Behind the Project

Created by Rupak Das

Hi, I'm Rupak Das, a full-stack engineer and lifelong geography & trivia nerd. I built National Animal Quiz to bridge the gap between word-based daily games (like Wordle) and static trivia quizzes.

Many online trivia platforms present national animal questions as plain multiple-choice lists without spatial context or ecological significance. In reality, national animals tell rich stories of national identity, royal folklore, indigenous heritage, and modern conservation triumphs.

By combining a real-time 3D WebGL globe with great-circle Haversine distance feedback, National Animal Quiz challenges your spatial intuition while teaching you about global wildlife.

Methodology

Data Verification & Editorial Standards

How are national animals selected for the quiz? Different sovereign nations designate animals in varied manners:

  • Legal Decrees & Legislation: E.g., The American Bison was codified by the US National Bison Legacy Act (2016); the Beaver was codified by Canada's National Symbol Act (1975).
  • Historic Heraldry & Royal Emblems: E.g., The Lion of England, the Gallic Rooster of France, and the Unicorn of Scotland date back to medieval seals and royal coats of arms.
  • Cultural & Indigenous Heritage: E.g., The Jaguar in Brazil and the Green Pheasant in Japan hold revered folklore significance.
  • Endangered Wildlife & Conservation: E.g., The Bengal Tiger in India and Giant Panda in China represent vital biodiversity preservation programs.

Our editorial team skips regions with ambiguous claims and cross-checks data against Wikipedia's List of National Animals, IUCN Red List data, and official government portals.
